Powerplant Engineer

Purpose

To work as a member of the Technical team managing company assets, liaising with existing and potential customers on all technical matters, obtaining and updating technical records and providing technical assistance to marketing personnel and other departments within the organisation. Key Result Areas
  • Asset Management – Responsibility for monitoring assigned engine assets on lease or in storage. Liaise with customers, engine manufacturers, aviation authorities and external agencies regarding delivery / redelivery, inspections, maintenance, warranty, shipping / storage and other technical aspects of engine management.
  • Project Management – Project manage lease delivery / redelivery and off lease storage / transportation / maintenance of assigned engine assets as required.
  • Technical Records Management – Responsible for collating, reviewing and archiving engine technical records packages in a timely and accurate manner to ensure full traceability, conformance with aviation authority requirements and expected market standards.
  • Maintain Technical Databases – Responsible for updating technical databases on the various engine types utilised by the Company, particularly relating to the Company engine management control system, airworthiness directive requirements, key service bulletins and maintenance costs/intervals.
  • Stakeholder Management – Responsible for liaising with Customers, MROs, OEMs and Vendors throughout the engine lifecycle. Expected to be literate with regards to maintenance manuals and IT systems in order to provide cost-effective engine management solutions.
  • Marketing Support – Provide technical-commercial support to sales personnel including advice on appropriate maintenance reserve rates and redelivery requirements, term sheet / contract negotiation support, projections of future engine condition and maintenance reserve cash flows.
  • Perform other duties as assigned from time to time by Technical Manager and the Executive Vice President Technical.
Skills & Experience
Essential
  • Degree in Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering OR Qualified aircraft / powerplant engineer holding an EASA/FAA Part 145 company approval for any medium to large commercial turbo fan engine.
  • Minimum of 5 years post qualification experience working with engines within aviation leasing, an airline or MRO.
  • Project management and project leader experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of engine technical records requirements, experience with engine record keeping and familiarity with on-going EASA and FAA record certification industry standards.

Desired
  • Experience managing assets and asset risks from manufacture, through shop visits, to redelivery.
  • Capability to analyse engine condition to manage exposure, predict costs, evaluate future utility and commercial value.
  • Understanding of engine life cycle maintenance costs.
  • Experience in the aircraft / engine leasing industry with contract management.

  • Must be willing to travel – the position will be primarily Shannon based but there are occasional short and long-distance travel requirements that may vary in their frequency.
